Cleaning Tank

Buying a used tank and want to clean out the inside of the tank. The tank sat in someones garage for a while and got really dirty inside and I want to make sure that there are no chemical residue inside the tank. Any recommendations.

Re: Cleaning Tank

Wash it out really well with hot water and then try using this product:

Re: Cleaning Tank

A solution of water and vinegar would do a great job as well, just be sure to rinse with water after.

Re: Cleaning Tank

I bought a used 5 gallon tank long time ago. I only washed it with hot water. All the fish I had in there died so I don't use it anymore. Could it be that I didn't wash very well?

awhh that's very sad..it most likely was because it wasn;t washed very well.
maybe you could try again and use vinegar when cleaning it as well?
and then just try one or two fish..then maybe put 3 or 4 if it's going good!

Re: Cleaning Tank

Yeah the common answer i have gotten is to wash the tank out with ho/warm water and a little vinegar. Then to rinse the tank out very well to make sure to get all of the vinegar out.
