New fish

Today i bought 2 red flame dwarf gourami from my LFS. I love them already i dont generally name my little tetras and stuff as they mostly look the same however i have already named these guys temporarily Monica and Chandler. This will probably change soon as i am very indecisive but for now its fine. They are very docile and follow each other round the tank eating the scum off all my plants which is great!!

They are the biggest tropical fish i have ever had and my brother is very scared of them lol, he wont even come into my room (he is not a big fish lover which is a constant source of amusement for me).

They also had only one betta in the shop which was all red and beautiful but i am still thinking about this investment before i go ahead and purchase. I have to think about who will look after my fish when i got 2 uni as my mum isnt keen on them either and my dad's away alot.

I was also amazed at the price of the skeleton shrimp like £5 (about $8-$10) for one shrimp!? Is that a joke? I thought it would be about £2 for like 10. I was gobsmacked, needless to say i did not get any, also apparently malaysian trumpet snails are "seasonal" over here and so are not in stock all year round so they didnt have any in
-May try to get some off ebay :P

Re: New fish

For years I searched high and low for a way to keep my sister out of my room and knock me down with a feather, you buy Monica and Chandler( great names BTW, as long as they don't start tearing into each other), and your space becomes your own..wish I knew back then what I know now!!..lol...anyway why not load 'em in with the rest of the junk you tote off with you to university, providing you can find a free corner in your room..they may just provide more moments of sanity than some of the gits you'll no doubt encounter at the higher halls of learning..cheers.

Re: New fish

Hi, congratulations on getting the new fish. How big is the tank with the dwarf gouramies? I've heard that they can be territorial, and males can get quite aggressive towards each other if they don't have enough space. Just be careful.

I know what you mean about the skeleton shrimp. I've seen some around me too that are about £5. I was quite shocked too that they were this price. Also, I'm quite suprised at the price of some corries in my lfs. The panda corries and peppered corries at my lfs are £6.75 each. I couldn't belive this when I saw it. I think some fish are way overpriced.
