Klaatu barada nikto

I'm watching an extended trailer for the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, and I've got to say that I'm liking it.

I'm looking forward to this (especially since I think I just saw "John Cleese" on the cast list).

I deny knowing anything about it.

Seriously though, I was kind of disappointed to see yet another remake of an older movie.
Thanks SDS, I hope it is good.

Okay, I only know about it because I looked up the phrase when it was used in Army of Darkness. "Klaatu... Barada... (cough)nik(cough)... There. I said it. I said the words."

I kind of get what you're talking about, Lucy, with the old movie thing, but at the same time, some of them deserve to be remade, especially if it's done lovingly and they do it justice. In the end, there are no new stories, only new ways of telling them. Movies are just more honest about it in some ways.
As an example: I just watched Invasion which is a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The movie was good (up 'til the end, at least). Particularly with the movies with horror/sci-fi elements, remaking them is sometimes necessary for modern folks to really get, because the old versions are seen as cheesy.

I love cheesy movies, especially the horror ones.

No one better touch Night of the Living Dead. lol

I, too, am a fan of cheesy horror flicks, but I do really enjoy seeing a story that was good enough to survive this long even if it's a really cheesy movie get turned into a serious movie. I'll often watch them back-to-back.

I really have to say that Hollywood is getting good at remaking these movies. Most of them have been doing really well, and I think there's a reason for that.
