Hi Shawnie!
I've missed you too
Bubbles eventually died from his bad case of velvet even though I tried to treat it the best I could. The velvet spread to the other two bettas sharing his divided tank (Dusty and Buddy).
Bijou died along with all of my plecos in my pleco tank (I was so excited about getting that one set up!) As it turns out, the plecos that got lost in the mail had some stress related diseases that spread rapidly and killed everything in the tank except for one pleco. That was so sad and frustrating. I turned that tank into an asian tank with danios, rasboras, loaches, and (yes I know the controversy on this one) a beautiful red crowntail betta (who still needs to be named). The betta is very happy and is doing well by the way.
I got rid of two of my 29 gallon tanks and replaced them with a 55 gallon (found it for 30 bucks!!!) I moved my discus into the 55 gallon and moved my angels, guppies, tetras, cories, keyholes and BN plecos into the 80 gallon. This has turned into such a great South American community tank. I just love it. I have re-done all of the
aquascaping, so I will have to post some pics!
Lastly.....today I had to make one of those yucky mature adult decisions. Since I am back at work, I do not have the time to keep up on their frequent water changes. I would much rather them go to someone who has the time instead of getting sick in my tank. Not that I go longer than a week between water changes, but discus are so sensative, you just can't skip them. I took them back to the
LFS today and got store credit. I reserved a gorgeous flowerhorn cichlid, who I will pick up tomorrow after work. I know that some people don't like them cause they're hybrids, but I think that they are really beautiful fish.
What's new with you these days?
