My mother wanted some more rosy red minnows for her 30 gallon tank, so I went to petco with her today. The minnows are sold as feeder fish in a huge tank with small
goldfish, so I have to be there to tell the sales person which ones are minnows and which are goldfish
I asked the checkout clerk for assistance in the aquatics section and the manager actually came out to help. She seemed to know what she was doing so I wandered over to the
betta display to look at a boy that had caught my eye on the last visit. After a minute my mom called me over to the minnow tank. One of the goldfish had swum into the net at the last minute and was now in our bag. The manager knew it was a goldfish so she asked if we still wanted it. I explained to my mom that she didn't have room for a goldfish, then joked "unless I buy another 55 gallon!"
The manager asked if I had a 55 gallon already (and of course offered to sell me another if I wanted it

) so I told her I had two, plus six smaller tanks.
"That must be a lot of maintenance." She said and I agreed that it was but I enjoyed it. She asked if I knew a lot about fish and said that they were badly in need of an aquatics expert as they didn't have anyone knowledgeable about fish (I restrained myself from saying "I've noticed!")
The manager told me I could apply online and bring a resume by the store to leave for her. They wanted a full-time employee, but since fall semester has just begun I don't have time for college plus a full-time job. She said they would be willing to hire a part-time if the person had enough knowledge, so I may be working at petco soon! (10% employee discount, here I come!

)
I wasn't really looking for a job, but I have a light course-load this semester and I hate hearing the petco workers giving out so much bad information ("bettas like small cups" and "you can fit several goldfish in a 5 gal")

Maybe I can help properly educate some people about fish care.
Wow, that was a long post!
