how do i upgrade my name from that? wat are the grades? why am i concidered a fish newbie?

It's just depending on the amount of posts you have. It doesn't mean much at all. Just for fun really. It's explained in this thread by Mike with the exact post count to get to the next level: What the stars signify under user names

It is tied in with the post count.

There are milestones on the post count ladder that the title changes, as does the number of stars that you have.

It is just a fun little thing for giving character to the site, and is not meant in a derogatory manner in the least.
