Help!

OK i want to start this thread by saying I hate my friends

I had a little party sat night

well after everyone crashed one kid stayed up a friend of a friend drinking

I woke up the next day and my tank is covered in fish food and the water is cloudy

Well I didn't even shower or brush my teeth i drained the tank and sucked up all the food i could.. I'm sure the kid was glad he left befoer i woke up...

Weell I did a 70% water change just to get all the food out.. and i refilled my tank well a few ours later I cant even see my fish the water is so cloudy..

I quickly set up my 10 gallon and move ALL my fish into it I know its not cycled but i figured they may have a better chance hanging in there till i can get the other tank sorted..

It looks a little clearer this morning and I haven't had time to test the water before work

anyone else ever have this issue

any advice please

Your biggest long-term problem is probably going to be if any of the fish ate too much food and get constipated from it. When you get home, you should probably do another partial water change, check the floss portion of the filter media, as well as the intake tube. Swish them out in the bucket of dirty tank water if necessary, and move your fish back. The grime from the food is probably better for them than ammonia, which is what they'll be exposed to in the 10g.

Edit: On your way home, stop at a pet store and see if you can find freeze-dried daphnia (if you don't already have some). It may be in the reptile section. If you can find it, make that your fishes' only food for awhile. It is a natural laxative, and will help them pass the excessive amounts of food they've eaten.

Then, find the friend who did this, and make him eat an entire can of fish food.

We avoid this issue by not having a bunch of drunk folks or unsupervised people around living things (pets, kids, etc). If I were a parent and wouldn't leave my infant with them I sure wouldn't leave them unsupervised around pets.

Just keep doing waterchanges until the water is clean again would be my advice. Do 5 or 6 90% waterchanges and it should do it some good. (You only do harm with waterchanges when water put back in is not very similar in temperature or chemical make up (pH, hardness, etc) of the water the fish were in.)

That's possibly the best way I've heard this put.

So what you're saying is that you don't have random folks from the neighborhood do keg-stands in the fishhouse?

hehe, nah. My neighbors are worse than Bishop's friends.

Sorry for the hijack Bishop. Let us know how the tank is doing when you can.

After another 90% water change last night its clearing up a lot...

The PH was wicked high but I will test again when i go home

Ammona was up and Nitrates were up still had a nitrite reading so there is hope

I hope after another water change i can move the fish back home
