This fishstore almost made me throw up!!!

We went to an east tn fish store and I literally got sick at my stomach... for starters it was owned by the same people who owned the chinese resturant right next to it which was only separated by a curtain EWE!! Then when you went in they had saltwater fish that even I knew shouldn't be mixed together, plecos in w/ goldfish, oscars that were full grown in tanks that were just big enough to set them in but not big enough for them to turn in, discus, angels, and malawis in the same tanks, illegal african clawed frogs.... oh the list goes on...
the poor oscars looked at you like "please mam help me!!!"
the bettas were in cups that were about a little bigger than shot glasses!

I want to protest in the parking lot of this store!!! I will never go back there!

Oh, that's horrible! I hope you didn't try the sushi.

Are African Clawed Frogs illegal in Tn? I know of a pet store that carries them.

I think that the large sized ones are illegal and the dwarf ones are ok?

I've seen them, I don't know if they're dwarf or not. They're rather large compared to the African Dwarf Frogs.

Yea, they are about the size of a softball full size, they are spreading that fungus and taking over lakes in certain areas, thats why they are supose to be illegal.

When I bought another ADF last week, I asked if they've had any trouble with the fungus.
The girl said she thought it just effected the ACF. I told her what I knew about infecting ADF's.
She was appreciative to have more information.
I was glad she'd at least heard of it and she owns ADF's, it was rather refreshing having a good conversation like that.

It is rare to find people at the fishstores that do appreciate info lol, but the info about that fungus, they do need to know about and pass that info on to customers just in case! I actually saw a store where they had dyed acf's I wanted to go off! I just knew that not only were the frogs going to be sick from they dye but I had a feeling they were 100% more likely to have that fungus from being more suseptible to infections.

Well in a word...Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

If you can't protest, perhaps time for a well placed call to SPCA - up here they monitor pet stores too. And I found out that there are standards to be followed for even fish. Course like here, they don't have enough inspectors for the area they covered.

Don't ya just want to pound themand then take all the fish??

That is just way too sad.......I wish we could save all the poor little innocent fish but I know it is impossible.....I'm wondering about the food laws out there.....It doesn't seem legal to have the fish store divided between just a curtain....Hummmmmm I'd write the store a letter complaining about the conditions and maybe even call the local news....You never know, maybe someone will listen!

Forget the SPCA, I would call the health department on the restaurant part of it. I would be nervous about the sushi ingredients.
