Tropical Storm (Hurricane?) Fay

I'm right in the projected area for Fay (right where Hurricane Charley hit a few years ago and destroyed everything...) and I'm pretty worried. We've got all the shutters up, and I'm pretty sure school is cancelled for tomorrow (my first day of high school, bummer). Getting all those flashlights out for when the power goes.

People just finished fixing their houses!

Anyone else live in this area and are getting ready?

Thanks. They say its not as bad as Charley. I think flooding is the major concern.

My best friend has a 45 gallon freshwater and a 55 gallon saltwater tank (she got me into fish in the first place... her tanks are awesome!) and she just called and shes like "Well, we've got our battery powered powerheads, so I think we'll be okay for a little while without power!"

I'm glad my tank doesn't have any fish in it or I'd be concerned.

We are not in the path this time, but here's hoping you sustain as much damage as we did from Eduoard. (I think one of my plant saucers almost filled up.)

Yeah, Fay is headed right towards me. I'm visiting my parents before the fall semester starts, and my apartment down south will also be hit. Thank goodness my room mate is taking care of my fishies!
Good luck and I hope the storm doesn't get very big. There will be more, though.

I just saw that Fay made a second landfall. The hurricane warnings have been cancelled, but she's still a tropical storm. Speaking as someone who was in Houston during TS Allison (downtown, even, during the second landfall), I know how destructive these storms can be even without the high winds. My prayers are with everyone in Fay's path.

Fay's 3rd landfall took it through my home area and dumped a ton of rain on them, lots of wind damage.

I am sorry to hear that, COBettaCouple. I hope everyone makes it through okay. I also hope we hear from Little Cherry Barb soon. I will never forget the devastation caused by Allison back in 2001. I am Yankee born (which is why I didn't have the good sense to be home when Allison hit us), but I've been down here for 16 years and I've learned to respect the power of nature in these storms.
