My mom sent out an e-mail to a bunch of people on her mailing lists, and they're sending it on to their friends. My aunt runs a dance school and has around 300 students she's sending it to.
Now I've just got to hope that these other people don't have as helpful of friends and family as I've got. |

There's a Renaissance Festival held in Triune, Tn every year for the month of May. It's a lot of fun.
This year my daughter and her friends went dressed as faeries. |

| I wish they would hold the Texas Renaissance Festival in the spring, or better yet winter. Ours runs for seven weekends starting in October and finishing Thanksgiving weekend. It's sooooo bloody hot that any costume that's actually period would boil the wearer.
If the Renaissance had occured in southeast Texas instead of Europe, the clothing would have been very different! |

As far as the clothes go, we've been out at RenFest with the weather at 90+ degrees (in MN, that comes with enough humidity that you can almost drink the air), and have worn our full costumes.
More often, we go with much lighter costumes. |

| Maybe I'm too sensitive to the heat and the (ugh) humidity, but once the mercury gets over 95, it's wench or bellydancer for me!
Even in my wench costume I almost passed out last year. I don't know if it was the layers or the corset, but the world started spinning. I suppose it could have been the cider, too.... |

| Theresa does have a Scottish costume and a set of Gypsy silks that are both much lighter than her dresses.
I can tolerate the heat as long as I keep hydrated, so it doesn't bother me as much, but I do alter my costume as weather dictates. |

| Alack! I didn't see this thread until today, too late to vote, but I want to wish you and Theresa luck and hope you win! It's great you are the only couple pictured in Renaissance garb, and you're such an adorable couple, too!
When is Theresa's birthday/winner announcement day? |

Good luck, you two, I hope you win! |

| The official announcement is tomorrow morning (it's been pushed back several times), but I'll let you in on a secret. WE WON!
I've got a victory thread in the General section of the forum. |
