I got done with my Petco Training today. It has been long but very informative. The fish stuff was easy for me, I had to hold back ALOT so everyone else would could answer. The stuff about dog and cat food what very interesting to hear and learn.

I found out that I am the ONLY guy that they hired to open,plus 95% of them could be my mom! It's going be a very fun place to work for me.

I found out that I CAN declining a sale! weather (sorry for that spelling) it be a hamster,rabbit,bird,lizard, or fish. The ANIMALS heath and well being comes 1st.

I thought I would update you guys on how it was going.

Didn't know that y'all were allowed to decline a sale. Maybe its not a bunch of corporate moneymakers that only care about money. Is your salary based on how much you sell?

nope, I am not salary based. The only people that are are the grooming people.

OH. I wonder why some workers feel the need to sell stuff to people that don't have the tank space or knowledge to adequately care for it...

I never knew that they could refuse a sale. Maybe petco isn't as bad as I thought them to be.

I was surprised the other day at my LFS to overhear a conversation with an employee and a customer who stated he had just set his tank up that day and wanted to buy fish to fill it immediately.... initially the employee told him not to buy any fish until his tank was done cycling BUT then a few minutes later after he kept insisting on getting some anyway she agreed and told him that since his tank wasnt cycled the fish would not be insured and he couldnt bring them back when they died I couldnt believe she did that!

Its good to know someone who is experienced with fish is going to be selling them, congrats on the job!

yeah my Petco is like that.. I've seen them refuse a sale on something..

it all depends on who's running.. some just don't care (which is a shame =( )
