Different fish species living together

Hi, I recently went into a pet store & saw something very disturbing. There was a malawian (a territoral fish) with a freshwater parrot fish in a very small tank. The parrot fish looked under alot of stress. It was hiding among the plants in the corner of the tank & some of its fins were bitten. I am not sure if the Malawian is responsible. Can the parrot fish co - exist with the malawian in any tank? Can I probably save the parrot fish by buying it and nursing it back to health in another tank?

its best malawians stay with malawians and parrots with semi agressive community fish like red tail sharks and angels. Your aquarium info says you have a 25 litre aquarium, which is about 6 gallons. You would need a tank such as a 30+ gallon to help him out. Unless you could supply that space, I wouldn't recommend taking him in. But it is a very good thing that you want to help out a fish in need of love and nurturing. You are a very good person, Kesh, and you should be commended.

Most definitely. As TFA says, it will take a larger tank, but it's always good to have more aquariums.

It will take some effort, some loving care, and, if the fish is too stressed, it may be too late, but at least it will have a more pleasant home for awhile.

Welcome to Fishlore. I agree, if you have room for him then it would be great to take him home and nurse him back to health.
