| I got them! Thanks to the awesome snail eating abilities of yoyo's, my tank was ready for my babies, the entire reason I bought this tank, Angels. I went to the LFS and my wife instantly fell in love with what were labeled as butterfly koi angels (if they arent please tell me so I can correct my thinking). Here are pics of the fish and I'll have new ones of the tank with the new layout and plants in a day or two, batteries went dead in my camera and they have to recharge I'll also have pics of my new betta boys, i bought them today but the LFS will hold them for me until I pick them up tomorrow, my bookshelf tank is already reading 0ammo .5 nitrite and 8 nitrate with daily ammo drops being added |

| Thanks for the ID, I dont want to call them the wrong thing... the deserve better than that. I'm really proud of them, I've wanted angels since I first fell in love with the hobby. Really i fell in love with them but wanted to keep easier fish for a year or two for experience before I took them on. Ill post more pics as soon as they get settled in and i recharge those stinking batteries for my camera. |

| Well, I learned from another fish keeper to look at their snouts - the females tend to have smoother lines and the males have a more pronounced 'bump'. Sometimes it's hard to tell for sure, but mostly this seems to work.. and did help us determine our 1st angel was a male and to buy a female for our 2nd angel. |

| Nice fish.
Although I'd try and do something about your +ive nitrite levels.
I have 3 angels one like yours and one jet black one. My third one is tiny and didn't seem to want to grow like the other two so I have him on his own in a smaller tank.
Nice clean healthy looking tank you have there! |

| And besides Steve... the nitrite reading was on my bookshelf tank, that was the home for the bettas after the fishless cycle, the 55gal had been cycled for a month or so My MTS got in the way here |

| Congratulations Dave! Patient pays well. Glad your Betta tank is almost there.
I'll be joining you soon as Angelfish keeper too! I just can't make my mind as far as eitehr getting adult paired or six juveniles to live the process of pairing-off... My Angelfish tank has gone through a lot (temporary home of Oscars, temporary home of Red-Salmon Rainbowfish) now I have 8 Harlequin Rasboras and 6 Panda Corycats (unless I'm mistaken, since they look like yo-yo loaches to me).

| cory's and yoyo's, not easy to mix up, lol...
the angelfish are truly my prize fish, i love the little guys already and they're full of personality. they are always at the tank waiting for me at feeding time and they're just friendly as can be. congratz on soon being an angel owner. |

I have no idea why I mixed this info... maybe lack of sleep or unconsciouss desire to actually find yo-yo loaches at a LFS?
Mine are panda corycats, I helped the employee ID them when they arrived. They hide to the point of totally dissapearing from sight, form time to time, at day or night time in so far unpredictable time-patterns, within the dense vegetation. They are incredibly fast swimmers. I took a video of the Harlequin Rasboras displaying the same or quite similar behavior (moving upwards in zig-zag-like in quick and trembling movements).
I was reading about the yo-yo loaches a few days ago, as I was researching for compatible tankmates for Angelfish... and I totally agree with David C... not easy to mix at all... LOL

PS: Got six juveniles Angelfish in the tank! |
