and i was thinking that i want to have to have some guppies, since i have some in a 10 gallon tank and they're breeding like crazy, and maybe some other schooling fish of similar size, and what not...

but my question is... if i have enough hiding space for a red-tailed shark, would he be okay with a group of community fish? i mean its a fairly big tank, and it will have plenty of space to call its territory, or will it still be way too aggresive?

Are you saying the RTS would be with Guppies? I don't know much about sharks but I would think you might end up with a fin-nipping problem.

guppies are a maybe, im really not sure what i will end up putting in the tank.

i figured that if you give the rts enough room, it would become less aggressive. the guppies i have now are having more babies than i keep up with, and i found a pet store that will take the babies on trade for other fish, i just figure out what i want to put in this new tank

Ive found that RTS aren't agressive unless it is at feeding time or it goes into its favourite spot. Or if you had another red tail or rainbow shark in the tank. In my opinion as long as you dont have many other aggressive fish which would challenge the shark for the territory it will be fine and make a good community fish.
