New tank need Idea's ?

I finally found a 75gal tank just happened to be on craig's list and it was 2 miles from my house. Luck was with me it's and old wood frame tank 1/2" glass in mint shape was a steal for a couple 100 bucks with solid oak stand and canopy. Filter everything. Now I'm thinking of what to put in it? I have a fire eel so far from my 29gal. anyone have any Idea here a pic of the tank no water yet.

If I were you, Id first do some research and see what fish would mix well with an eel. I dont know much about eels. Is your eel aggressive? how big is it?

Right now he is about 4" long and has not bothered one fish in the 29gal there are 4 black kuli's, 6-Dalmation Molly's, 1- hillstream loach and 2 ciclids still trying to find out what they are. He onlt eat frozen blood worms and ghost shrimp. I had 30 ghost shrimp and he wiped them out in 2 days was cool to watch him hunt though.

You may want to check on this information, but I have heard that fire eels need to be in a species tank (they get pretty big). Even though as a baby it is peaceful towards your other fish, that could quickly change when it matures.

Everything that I have read about eels says that they will get big enough to eat all of your fish. I think they are really cool looking. I have a rope eel (fish really) and she is about 12" long she is peacefull with all the fish in my tank but every now and then a small fish mysteriously dissappears I still love her but you will have to watch for this. I also think your eel can get to be 12" long by then she would definately start to eat your fish.

P.S If you like to watch fish hunt or eat live foods that have a personallity you might try Oscars

Nice deal on the tank! When I was looking to stock my 40 gallon I saw some peacock eels and thought I might like them until I did some research and found out they dig and didn't fit with my stocking plans since I like one small school of fish in my tanks.
Here is a couple of sites I check out a lot when I want stocking ideas
This one I don't like the suggestions since an eel can grow up to 10 inches
http://www.elmersaquarium.com/10eel_peacock.htm
This one makes sense and says swordtails will be on the menu one day
http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Oddball,%20Spiny%20Eel.htm
Here is one that suggests medium size chiclids

If I was to get a deal like you did and had one eel already I would probably get some type of chiclid or if I was going with an Asian theme I would get a larger Gouramis.

I found some information on the fire eel for you:
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...19&pcatid=1019

I would think that you could put it in a tank with some larger African Cichlids due to the high pH that it prefers. I wouldn't go with anything aggressive though. You could maybe try some yellow labs, some haps, or some red zebras. I would add the fish when they are still juvies so that they can grow at the same rate as the eel. Anyways, this is just an educated guess on my part. I would definetly try to find someone who has had experience keeping these before you stock the tank

you could also try a community setup, red-finned tinfoil barbs (not plain tinfoil barbs!) are an awesome centerpiece. they're very docile and never stop moving. Giant danios are awesome too, they add a lot of activity to the tank and do get pretty large (5 inches or so).

If i could start over, I think I'd get a shoal of congo tetras and a few rainbow fish. beautiful.
