unexpected new pet...

I was looking outside and saw my dog w/ a bird outside chasing it.. it was a juvi blue jay w/ a broken wing...
Now the little guy is in a bird cage in my husbands bathroom until he gets home.. so he can help me fix its wing and we can decide what to do w/ it. My husband is a wildlife man, and loves birds so he won't let the bird go w/o helping it. So this little guy I have a feeling is a new pet until he is nursed back to health.
Hes so beautiful! close to adult size too.

and of coarse as usuall he made me let it go.. I swear he has a sick sense when it comes to injured animals! He said it would be better for another animal to get it. at least when I went to let it go it perched on my finger for a little while and I got to enjoy its beauty, they are beautiful birds. I took it to the tree where I know the other blue jays are, so if theres any chance it can get up there it will.

Just the other day there was a barn swallow that ran into the glass at the garage, my husband brought it in the house to show us, and it woke up and flew off w/ no problems. They are beautiful birds close up as well. It just knocked its little self out.

Oh no ... I'd never let it go until I saw it completely recover! And I wouldn't care what my bf/husband would have to say about it! (But that's me, lol.) Poor thing . Wherever it is now, I hope it will recover. God forbid another animal gets it!

P.S. A while ago, I found 3 tiny baby squirrels dying. If I listened to others and let them be, they'd be dead long ago. But I took them home, regardless of what others thought, and I nursed them back to health. Now they're alive, healthy, and fee once again. I just can't leave an animal in need, even if it appears very sick. I think there's always little hope, little chance, at least to try to save it.

It's possible that the wing was just bruised up. Aside from that, Jays are pretty tough little fighters. Hopefully the little guy got into safety. His parents will probably do a good job of driving/drawing off predators while he heals.

Yea, they're great birds.. with a whole lot of attitude. I hope the little guy makes it.
