I have two more (was three) fish. They are Ottos. The names were Winkin', Blinkin', and Nod; but my little Nod died this last week. The others are doing extremely well and enjoying their Santa gift of a new piece of driftwood.

God Bless Them Every One - All of You and Your Fishies! Have a Marvelous Christmas!

Sorry to hear about the robbery, but happy to hear about the newtank & fish!
I've had three Bettas:
Rockford (or Rocky or Rockfish) was the first - deep blue
Rod Stuart (or Rod) was the second - bright red
Lulu is my third & still swimming! He's pink with blue spots.

My wife had a blue Betta named Cal that she kept in her office - she had the buildings & grounds department make up a nameplate for him that hung outside their door - people kept wondering who Cal Fish was...

I think bettas are the most beautiful kind of fish. even though they are aggressive with others, they are so beautiful, and they are nice to watch. they are like underwater butterflies, and i have had about 14 bettas since i started up my aquariums and tanks.
here is a poem about fish:

Underwater jewels, swimming round and round,
Peaceful and pretty pets, they don't make a sound.
Boring? Of course not, my fish are my friends,
I love them all, and i love them to the end.
Big and colorful, flaunting their fins and tails,
Or small and shiny, with reflective scales.
Smooth and hypnotic, they are intriguing creatures,
All they know is how to live, they need no teachers.
They swim and they swim, who knows what they think,
A permanent poker face, they don't even blink.
In a watery home, in oceans, rivers, or a tank,
They provide entertainment and beauty, it's them who we should thank.

How do you like it? sometimes i am quite poetic, especially about things i love. how was everybody's christmas/hannukah/kwanzaa? i know i had a great time! seasons greetings, from fishphreak_4

Also, everyone, our power was out for nearly three weeks and none of my fish died! Not a single one. Even Squishy-Mo Asparagus made it! He's a tough little discus.

I came back home two days after the storm hit (even though we weren't allowed to, we got in) and set up a generator and my fish were fine! I was nervous when I came home, but all I had to do was clear a few dead plants and a half water change. I lost plants, but not fish...wierd huh?

It will be a long time until things are back to normal around here, years. We still have tons of work to do on our house like roofing, new garage doors, a couple of windows and our fence. And that's pretty much how everyone is around here, including businesses and such. But hey, we're all okay and all my fish are fine! So it's all good

Re: what is your fish's name. just curious...

how do u like my poem? its not very good, i spent like 4 minutes writing it. anyway, glad to hear that all your fish are ok, justin. once the power went out in Sydney about 2 years ago for like, 4 days during a huge storm that broke all these power poles, and only 6 out of about 30 fish survived apparantely, the tank overheated. it was a tragic occurence. i cried alot. anyway, my friends in college station told me that there was virtually no hurricane damage, but you might have heard that from your cousin. does he go the the A&M? sorry, thats none of my business, just curious. hope your house is fixed soon- fishphreak.

Yes, I liked your poem very much I wrote that I especially liked the permanent poker face, very clever! Sorry about your fish tragedy too Yes, my cousin goes to A&M, he came down to where I live and helped us with a little cleanup. We've been having adjusters come out to our home every few days, it's kinda getting annoying, but we're getting things back on track now talk to you guys soon, and happy new year :P

Re: what is your fish's name. just curious...

does anyone name their fish anymore? suddenly everyone just stopped. oh well, i still name mine. a couple of weeks ago for my new saltwater aquarium, i got some more tomato clowns, and they are called Moe, Larry, and Curly. they are the center of attention in my tank! they like to show off, i think. does anyone else have tomato clowns? they are my favorite kind of fish, they are so pretty, and easy to take care of.

Re: what is your fish's name. just curious...

"Goldie"-- Gold Gourami; I know its not very original but I started out just calling him "The Gold Gourami" since I only have one and I eventually shortend it to Goldie

"Lenny"--Rainbow Shark; Named after the Vegetarian shark from Shark Tale because he just doesn't seem that shark-like. He is very timid and shy.

"The Tigers" -- I have 5 Tiger Barbs that all look so similar and zip around the tank so fast that I can't tell them apart.

"Sarge"-- The biggest of my four Danios. He is always pacing back and forth keeping watch in front of the sunken ship. It just looks like waiting for the enemy Army he "knows" is right over the next hill. He has to keep watch so that the tank will be secure from the Barbarian Hordes

"The Other Danios"-- Same problem as the Tiger barbs. They look so similar its hard to tell them apart.

Lenny! i like that. that was a cool movie though. you're lucky to have a rainbow shark. i really wanted one, but i don't have the tank space, and i don't want to crowd my fish.
