Working from home?

I currently work at the local Wal-Mart Supercenter in town.. I work about 17 hours a week. (We just built it and hired WAY too many people for the new store) We're cutting hours really bad and it effected my income like nuts!
I'm starting College in the summer time and need to pay for books, gas, car insurance, etc. So, I'm looking for some at-home work to do on my days off and at night.
I've looked all over the internet and have found nothing but scams. (Envelope stuffing for $5 each, Invoice work for $15 each.) I've read all disclaimers and they all say the same thing... "We cannot guarantee that you will profit from this company...blahblahblah"
So, my questions to you are..
Is there anything out there that is legit?
Have you ever had to work from home?
Is there something out there that I can assemble and send back to the company for pay?
Any place I could find some leads to a good at-home job?

Anything related to working at home is appreciated. :]

Thanks guys!
Bree

PM me and I will give you some information on the company I work with. I make $ every month, and love the product.

There are some companies that allow telecommuting. This is usually pretty simple data entry stuff, and doesn't pay the greatest, but they allow you to do work on your time.

In addition, check with your college. When I started in college, I worked in the ceramics lab for around ten hours a week and got a good wage. I'm actually thinking about going back to working at the university I'm attending.

PMed you :]

Thanks for the reply!

Anyone else out there work from home?
I'd love to hear your stories and experiences!
Bree

EDIT:
Actually, I just found out I need 50 posts to access the PM's so I think I emailed you? (from your profile?)
Did I do that correctly? and will you get back to me through my personal email address?

This is kindof a goofy set-up when a person new to the site is looking for information or needs to seak privately with another user
Whats up with that?!

That's what I was planning on doing once I got to College.. But for now I need the money to actually start taking classes there
I'm going for Massage Therapy, so I was going to do some kind of intern work or try to get a job around that..
But for these next few months before classes start I need to get an additional income. Work that I could do when I come home from Wal-mart and do on my days off. Maybe do something when I first wake up for some extra cash.. or when I have some free time.
Thanks for your reply, I've definitely been looking into things like that for the future! :]
I admit it, I'm a list maker and a future planner! I wouldn't survive without my daily list of "things to do"!

To everyone:
I'm not looking for a "get rich quick" deal, honestly, and extra $20 a week would help for gas or to put in savings. I live 35 minutes from town, so my money gets gobbled up pretty quick that way

You could get a job at your local UPS operation. They're usually hiring, and if you can handle the work (make a note of "IF") you'll get regular evening hours, decent pay ($8.50-$9.50 with a 3.5 hrs/day guarantee), tuition assistance ($1,500 a semester for 4 years), paid vacation, and benefits (health and prescription drugs).

It's perfect for we students...I've been there for 3 1/2 years and can't imagine actually finishing school without it.

BTW: I'm a Smalls Sorter, I sort envelopes and small packages.
