| big ol' fat bullfrogs There is a bullfrog in the school pond and I need to get it out. it is about 6inches fat and is eating all the baby ducks. does anyone know a way to get it out (it is in an enclosed courtyard we think that some one put it in there when it was young and now it is a problem) without hurting it? I cant kill it, so it will probably go in a biology tank but we need to save the baby duckys as well. any suggestions would be apriciated. |

| well, the fertilized eggs but to me that is the same thing. He is an invasive species and is eating anything that fits in his mouth witch includes other toads and frogs, eggs, goldfish if he can catch them. |

| ? ? ? I would have to see it to believe it....a frog eating eggs? I think it is much more plausible that there is a night time creature coming around....frogs eat bugs, I can believe MAYBE small fish, .....
There are big nets for catching fish that should be just the thing if you want to catch the frog. Why is a frog less lovable than a duck? |

| I've seen him eat the eggs. I live central PA but I need to catch the frog though Id love to see frogster221 do it for me but alas I need to catch the toad myself because I am the only one Mr H lets near his pond. (He is very protective of the goldfish and Koi, and I would be too with all those high school boys around)
The ducks are all of the ducks that high school students have hatched and the eggs they lay will be hatched by other high school students. Its not that the ducks are cuter, its the fact that the whole pond was built for them. Last edited by angelfish220; April 1st, 2008 at 09:59 PM.

| That frog's been watching too many scifi movies! He's on a rampage! Really, I'm not sure of a way to catch him other than some sort of humane trap that would lure him in and close behind him. |

| buy a cheap long handled small holed net and slowly creep up to it staying just shorter than the nets total length then slowly place the net in front of the frog and slowly pull it toward him when its directly over him lie the net on the ground and go get the frog. this is for on land only though. it takes a few trys but it always works for me but im a high schooler whos been catching frogs turtles lizards snakes and salamanders since i was able to walk. hope this helps you though. |

| actually you could probably use the net that you use to skim the pond with to catch it |

| I'm kind of wondering if someone released a different type of frog in the pond, maybe a type of pac-man frog.
It seems to me that if the ducks and the frogs were native to the same range, the ducks would have a way to avoid the frogs at least some of the time (this is just a guess, though)
The skimming net seems to be a good idea to me. Or maybe a heron will see the frog and make up its mind to go hunting. |

| If you can get into the pond area and maybe when the frog is close to the waters edge you could sneek up on it and throw a towel over it.. that would keep it from jumping away yet pertect you from anything it might have when you pick it up. I dunno if frogs carry any kind of frog sickness or not. but i wouldnt take any chances.. especally a frog eating ducks eggs and other things living in and around the pond. |

How big is the pond? if its big enough maybe get some kind of a paddle boat with the big net and catch him that way. |

| it wouldnt be deep enough for a boat, but I can stand in it with waders on. I think it might just end up being a patience game. |
