Posting inaccurate information

Some members have expressed their worries to me that since one recently banned member told others that his reason for being banned was posting inaccurate information, that they are worried about posting as much.

I will not go into why the person was banned, because as was posted this morning, it is a management issue. What I will explain is why you won't be banned for simple mistakes.

No one is going to be banned for simply being incorrect, or posting something that no one else agrees with, because we are all given the right to our own opinions. What will get someone banned is prolonged encouragement to do things that are cruel, not smart, and just down right bad fishkeeping practices. Encouragement that often times lead to less knowledgeable people having problems. That encouragement also, if egregious enough, paints an image of Fishlore as a bad community to people of other sites or new comers to our own site.

In summation, please, continue posting and feeling like normal about posting. We only weed out the bad apples and if you aren't a bad apple then there is no reason to worry about your posting habits. The people that are removed from the site have warnings leading up to their removal atleast 99% of the time. (The ones that don't receive warnings are those that do something so outrageous that we have to remove them immediately. Example: Innappropriate links to non-kid-friendly-material, outrageous verbal assaults on other members, spam advertisement.)

Thank you all for your patience and time. As a community, Fishlore is going strong and will continue to do so.

Right on CWC

The members that have been banned have been given at least one, usually several warnings from myself and the other moderators about their behavior. It's not like they didn't see it coming and didn't have a chance to fix their posting behavior.

We're here to help each other. Plain and simple. It's unfortunate, but there will always be rotten apples out there and we try our best to keep the riff-raff to a minimum so that the majority of us can continue to enjoy the forum.
