I changed my pump on my jewel aquarium 180 from a 600 to a 1000 and added a 205 litre canaster filter to my tank which is also about 15 inches over stocked. The canaster filter takes up no room in the tank and the which is always good when the tank is over stocked (apart from the small pipe and outflow pipe). This was a slightly expensive solution but water conditions are always perfect ie amonia nitrate nitrite 0ppm. It is probably over kill on the filtration but better that than sick fish !!!!!!!

ps. have a small 105 air pump with a 2 inch stone in the tank. does the job for me.

I'd recommend at least 50% weekly. We do 40% weekly on tanks that are understocked. Extra filter sponges and a bubble wand would be good in that tank.

That will definately help your tank stay stable. Get the bubble wand too if you can.
ps. do more water changes when your dad is not there he will never know.

I am very new at this fish thing. And I have alot of ?'s and also very new to forums so forgive if I'm in the wrong place to be asking this ? the tank was given to me and it came w / the UGF and I put it in under my gravel and am hoping to finish the set up but I believe I am missing some parts. I have it all up to the tubes coming up out of the gravel. I am asking this because I'm already up to 9 gallons of my tank w/ only the three mollies.I don't now if it shows this but I currently am using an over tank filter. which I purchased because every thing I read said the UGF was ot very effiecent
