Parents and MTS

I was wondering about this the other day. What do they think when their child wants another, and another, AND another tank?
We are mad?
Ungrateful?
Weird?
'its not something that can harm them, so why not?',
'good for learning responsibility'?
'If you really need it',.
etc,etc.
So far my parents are fine with it, tho i dont think it'l stay like that if one more is requested! I said my 24gal was my last when i got it, but now with the sw one on the way it cant be, lol. But i think this one only passed because it was something different.

I think a lot of parents put too many restrictions on as far as MTS, they don't realize that the need to move up in size is real, that often tanks are overcrowded, and will end up with a sick tank unless a bigger one takes some of the fish....

I also don't think many parents want to give up the room, for a hobby of their kids, but as far as I can see, time spent doing fish is healthy, "good clean fun" as apposed to many other things...

My philosophy has always been spend $$$ and time on the kids while they are little, and you don't have to hire lawyers when they get older!

I haven't lived with my parents in a loong time but they think we are silly having soo many tanks & fish. Well I don't live with you so don't worry.
I say whatever make you happy.

well, I know that I am a parent with MTS...

and thats way too good of an excuse to get another tank...

"my kid really needed another tank, so I had to get it..."

however, all my children really are too young to understand the need for larger aquariums and they are far to young to do the maintenance, so... I guess I have to wait a few years before I can use that line!! cant wait till I can ...

I on the other hand have grown kids that think I am CRAZEY..... I can't use them as an excuse, so just have to take personal responsibility for my actions. I do need a Aquaholics meeting, I'm in a state right now, cause I got a e-mail from corys r us, and WANT more fish!!!!!

Same, my parents were fine untill I hit 3 tanks (4 including the q tank).....then they said no more. I honestly don't understand why-I've had tons of pets since I was a kid and they've never had to do any of the work, and they don't pay for any of my fish stuff. Sometimes I almost wish I was one of the 'bad kids' off doing drugs or something, then maybe my parents would actually want to let me pursue a productive hobby.

lol.
Yeah, i pretty much pay for most of my fish stuff too, tho my parents do buy some things sometimes. I think we hit the limit for all-most animals. They wont allow anymore birds, dogs and no more cats! And i want another dog and an umbrella cockatoo. But those are dream pets lol, i think even if it were allowed i wont have the time to look after them!
