What fish with a RCS colony?

I have a 10 gallon high light, c02, Red Cherry Shrimp tank that has a little more than 50 RCS in it (nitrates never have gotten more than 10) What fish would be happy in there and wont eat any shrimp? Currently i have to baby cherry barbs in there but they are almost ready to move to a bigger home. Any info advise or ideas are welcome! I will be moving some of the cherry shrimp to another tank soon aswell.

Dwarf puffers are good with shrimp. Their mouths are too small to do anything to the shrimp. Some people report good results with cories. Guppies are a 50/50. Personally, I would go for dwarf puffers or harlequin rasboras.

P.S. Just about ANY fish will eat baby shrimp.

The 10 gallon size limits the fish you can have. What ever you choose they will be safer if you have java moss in the tank.

I have a 55 gallon with RCS, snails, neon rainbows, rainbow platys, Liberty molleys and fry of all sorts.....The RCS have increased from 25 to about 300, so I would say they are 'safe' with the above fish. You could also keep them with neons or cardinal tetras......Good Luck

The only fish that won't ever snack on baby shrimp are herbivorous catfish with adapted mouths. Any other type of fish will eat a baby if they come across one. So if you're going for maximum shrimp output I'd go with cories or otos. Cardinals are compatible with them but will snack on the young ones probably, so up to you if you mind that or not. Shrimp are good hiders to the population will increase, just not as fast.

Love the tank, very nice aquascaping.

are you sure? i had a dwarf puffer, and it LOVED eating shrimp. it's true that they won't be able toeat the whole thing, but what mine did was take a few bites, and then leave the shrimp.

What fish wit ha RCS colony?

Hi!

I heard Bettas are good with shrimp. A male betta would look wonderful in there! Nice tank.

Dwarf puffers are invertivores. They have small mouths, but their beaks are capable of biting through pretty much every invertebrate shell except for a malaysian trumpet snail shell. They just take bites out of anything that looks good to them.
I have been told by others on the forum that bettas see shrimp as food when the shrimp are molting.

A small school of neons could be a good addition. They're far too small and peaceful to eat the shrimp. Can't think of anything else that would fit in a 10g. (Doesn't mean there isn't anything, just that I can't think of it.)

What fish with a RCS colony

Hi!

I think Tetras, Danios or Rasboras are the way to go. Cherry barbs would be nice, to.

Hi!

Nice looking tank WolfGang! I think a plain black background would work wonders for its overall appearance.
