Beginner question

I have a 150 gallon aquarium with a very large external canister filter with proper media. I have a reasonable number of fish. Whenever I feed them I get cloudy water for a number of hours afterward. Is this common? Am I missing something? My water chemistry is within acceptable range. Opinions please..thank you

WELCOME to FISHLORE, you will find a helpful crowd here!

Did you cycle your tank before you added fish?

Do you have a test kit? Most here recommend the API Master test kit.
What are the readings for,
ammonia:
nitrite:
nitrate:

Sounds like your tank is still in the cycle process, and the addition of food is causing the bacteria to "bloom" Just a guess, though until you can get those readings on the water.

What fish are you keeping? what are you feeding?

Welcome to Fishlore.
Same questions as above and then we can try to help figure out. My guess is mini-bacterial blooms, too.

welcome to fishlore.

what kind of food are you feeding them? and about how much?

are you using a liquid testing kit like the API master freshwater kit? If you're getting readings other than 0 for ammonia and nitrites or readings higher than 10-20 on nitrates the tank isn't cycled. How long has it been running? How many fish and what kind of fish are in there? Do you have live plants?
