| | Fish Keeper | No. I am a firm Groucho Marxian: "I would never join a club that would have me as a member." |

| | Fish Keeper | Not yet. I need to try to stay up late enough to attend a GPASI meeting (I'm usually in bed by 9 PM, getting up early sucks) It's somewhere in Pittsburgh, which I know about as well as I do Downtown Cairo.... |

| | King of Curt | Dino and I are members of Atlanta Area Aquarium Association. Dino is on the board of directors of that club. I think he is also a member of the Charlotte, North Carolina club, he'd have to tell their proper name...I forgot it. |

| | Fish Keeper | The nearest club to us is about an hour from here... I was curious... I'd love to find breeders in my area or hobbiests to trade with. I think the club charges a fee to belong tho, somewhere in the range of $30 a year, but if you just want to go to meeting on occasion they charge a guest fee of $5 that you pay at the door. Does yours charge a fee or is it free? |

| | Fish Bum | I am a member of a pseudo aquarium club....lol. One of the docs I work with has been a hobbyist for years. We compare notes and I pick his brain when I have a problem. Two other people I work with have gotten aquariums since I started. We all share thoughts and ideas. So we are sort of a club... maybe.. lol |

| | Galactic Overlord | Dino sleeps in the back of the van while my parents drive the 3.5 hours to Atlanta.
Sometimes twice a month if there is a board member meeting.
The AAAA yearly memberships is 15$ a person.
There is no guest fee.
But members recieve point for attending meetings ( and other club activities) which can be used to bid on auctions at a point only auction at the end of the year. |

Dino, you only have 265 BAP points, I know someone that has over 2000. I get a lot of local bred fish from him. lol

| | Fish Master | We were members of the ECAS, East Coast Aquarium Society...but they treated us weird for having piranha. Assuming we only fed them feeders. Grr! If you were to stand up for your actions on their forum they'd ban you for dis agreeing with the moderators/. It's run terribly. It's shame b/c most of the members were/are true hobbyist.
So we didn't bother renewing our membership, neither did a lot of members who don't like how they run the society. One member research all Canadian fish societies, Nova Scotian fish keepers are either weird jealous people, or really cool fish people who are in for the hobby not to be competitive with other members. Our society is ran by the wrong people.
It doesn't matter anyhow, we go to our local fish store so much that my bf has become friends with the fish room guys. We get our own discount which is much better than we got with our ECAS membership. Last edited by Allie; December 24th, 2007 at 09:42 AM.

Tom | Thats only what I have turned in since 2003.
You can only turn in a species once.
So, all the guppies I breed do not add to my BAP points, nor the angels, bn species I have already turned in, ect.
Also, that list is several months out of date. |
