tank for my dads office.

Hi all.

My dad is thinking about getting a smallish fish tank for in his office. so i think the first step is to identify some fish which are really resiliant to water conditions. Any ideas would be appredciated.

Danios tend to be more hardy fish, as well as Platys (just go all-males). He might find Dwarf Puffers interesting, although they're not as easy as Platys or Danios. Even African Dwarf Frogs would be quite fun for a desk tank. If you can find "Prime" to use for conditioning the tank water and keep up basic partial water changes and cleaning, I think almost any fish would work that would fit inside the bioload and you could browse fish profiles to find what would suit his desk. Especially if you could seed the tank from one of your established tanks.

unfortunately i cant seed the tank because he lives in dubai and i live in Australia but i'm up in dubai at the moment. how about guppies? he would want something quite colourful and flashy. i wanted something more hardy because he would probably only get around to water changes/ gravel vacs once every 2-3 weeks with his busy corporate lifestyle.

ah, i see.. well, guppies are hit or miss really. They can be hardy or they can die fast, depending on where you get them. If you can find a good breeder or fish shop with a good reputation, then guppies could be a good, hardy and colorful choice.
