| ideas for a good digital camera My old Kodak digital camera finally died after 8 years of abuse, so I am looking to get myself a new one for Christmas. Anyone have any idea what ones are good/bad?
I will use the camera to take pictures of my family (inside and out), ebay items for my ebay store, and occasionally my fish when I can get them to hold still = )
I can only spend up to $250. Anybody have any ideas? |

| I bought a fuiji-film A800, for about 130$ on sale at office max and bought memory card, memory card reader, rechargeable batteries, and camera case for another 70$. I am very happy with the fuji-film, I believe it is an off brand of Nikon, not sure. I know olympus cameras are good too. My camera does good photos for things you mentioned, though it lacks a fast shutter speed so it has a harder time capturing decent photos of fast fish swimming. Does your 250$ budget just include the camera or the other supplies needed along with the camera. |

| I'm happy with my Nikon CoolPix L6 camera. Although the shutter and focus speed is a little slow, it takes great still pictures. |

| I've searched online, I just don't really know what brands are good and such. I've found a Casio that I really like, does anyone have any experience with those? |

| I love my Sony CyberShot DSC. I got it for 250 about a year ago.
6 megapixels 12X zoom. I have some trouble with the moving subject setting If I take the picture indoors it comes out really dark and is a no flash setting. Even fully lit tanks look dark so I have to get quick shots when the fish stop moving on the regular setting. Otherwise it does great video and fantastic stills. |

michelle, i'll bring my camera with when i pick up your fishiez! otherwise, i'm in the same boat needing a new one...good topic, i was putting it off hoping it would come back to life. pretty sure that's not gonna happen. |

Yeah I think I've been through probably 15 or so cell phones in the last 10 years or so? They just seem to break when I have them.
My old one finally started acting up after about 10 years. It's absolutely HUGE, about 2x6x4. But for being that old it does take nice shots still. I'm gonna miss having to hold the batteries in while I take pictures
Good news too, I convinced my mom to buy me a camera for Christmas! Which means I'm $250 closer to a bigger tank! |

Mine isn't one of the slim style CyberShots. It's a DSC-H2. It's more like a standard SLR camera. Heres a link to a review of the camera I have. http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/H2/H2A.HTM Keep in mind that Sony is up to I think the DSC-H9 now so mine is actually a bit "old", so you may find it fairly cheap. The 9s go for about 500 bucks. The H series is the "high zoom" series of CyberShots. 12X zoom is AWESOME. It's kind of big but has a lot of features including add on lenses you can buy seperately. (ie wide angle, telephoto, etc). |

| I think i've decided on the Casio model that I was looking at. It's the Casio Exilim 7.2 MP model (EX-Z77).
I'm so excited! I can't wait to get it, I haven't taken pictures of the fish in soooo long! |

| Oh how I wish it would snow here. It's been raining for 2 days. Never rains in November\December. Although I hear the closest (70mi) ski resort was supposed to get 3ft. Haven't checked the ski report but even 6ins would be incredibly needed. Can't complain too terribly much though. Rain is watering the golf course for me. Makes my job SOOO much easier. Of course so does having it buried in snow. Can't snowboard on rain either. God forbid if it EVER rains on a ski resort. Oh the deadly ice. |

| Yeah it is a big toss up between a new camera and a new tank. Luckily my mom said she would get me a camera for Christmas, so I can put the money towards the 120 gallon tank setup I've had my eye on. |

| After buying a digital single lens camera (DSLR camera), I never want to go back to regular digital cameras. The difference in the quality of pictures is ENORMOUS. If you're willing to spend around $500 on a new camera, buy a good lens camera instead of a regular one. I bought my Nikon D40 for around $500 on Amazon.com. People pay the same money to get crappy digital cameras. Just so you know, you can have superior quality camera and pictures for the same amount of money that you'd pay for a regular digital camera. Nikon D40 is a great entry level DSLR camera. Canon DSLR cameras are great too, or so I hear. |
