um well yesterday i went and got a Dwarf Gourami for my 10 gallon which also has the 3 platys everything went well until 2day my dad goes to the LFS and without telling me bort a bala shark now before i had no knowledge of bala shark but now that i read about them they get up to 16" !!!! and they need to be with shoal of 3!!! and i don't have enough room to go and get 2 more and my tanks only 10 gallon. his a baby bala shark tho his about 2" at the moment he seems to be doing fine for now i really don't know what to do the only way to return it is if somehow it died with in 7 days and i dont know about there growing speed but soon he will be to big for my tank what should i do come to think of it his been following the platys around his part of their group now....

Have you checked with the store to be sure they won't take it back? Many will.

They sold your dad a bala shark for a 10 gallon? And now they won't take it back? I hate stores like that. They should have known better to begin with. I guess I would avoid that particular store in the future. Obviously they don't care about customers, only money. I would call around to other pet stores. Tell them exactly what happened. One of them will probably help you out.
I know I have a couple here that are pretty cool about stuff like that. When my angelfish paired up I had to get rid of the other Angels really fast (or the new pair would have killed them). 2 different stores by me both said "No Problem" to me bringing them in. I only got a store credit for them (because I didn't buy them there), but I didn't care, they got a new home.

hmmm well the one my dad purchased it from was a petstore but ill try the aquarium store near by but last time me and my friend went there the fish look really unhealthy and the service was -10 i dunno where they find these people. i don't even think they like animals.

ahhh, that's the trick, finding the ones that are in it because they like fish, not the ones in it because they like only money. I have about a dozen within an hours drive of me, but unless I have to I go to only 2 of them. Buth are small privately owned LFS's.

are there any local aquarium/fish clubs? i think they would be a great resource in finding a proper home for the Bala that dishonest shop sold your dad. They may also be able to point out the good fish shops as well.
