I would suggest getting some more zebra danios, maybe another 6-8. And maybe some small barbs too, like tiger barbs(the regular, green, and albino).

Up the number of zebra danios you have to at least 6, they are happiest in schools. In my tank they are all over but I believe they are mostly mid to top swimmers. Other than that I don't think you can go wrong with some cherry barbs or a school or two of some tetras. A pair of Dwarf Gouramis might work as well.

If I understand correctly, the thing with most fish (tank bred) is that as long as the fish is acclimated slowly, ph isn't usually an issue. My father had cardinal tetras at 7ph and never had any problems. Don't quote me on that though, I'm still trying to get the hang of things myself.

tkfury,i have read similar things and also conflicting things too but what you said seems to be the majority feelings. I guess the only way to find out is to try some.Im still just getting to grips with everything but i have suprised myself at what i seem to have taken in without realising. Not be long till im giving advice too!

I would definately get more danios. I think you will be pleased on what you see when more of them are together in the tank. Mine always swam near the top of the tank. I would get something for the middle. Purchase more than one gourami with caution. My experience is there is always a bully that eventually stresses the other gouramis to death. The pearl gouramis are supposed to be much more mild mannered and are beautiful. Your tank sounds lovely. Got any pics?
