theres two links two boths fish and the abf doesnt have any good pics that i can find but when viewed fromt the top they look like butterflys and they are really neat looking fish in person i want one but cant right now

uh not a good idea since most goldfish need 20 gallons and every one after nees 10 since they get large and are SOOO messy and there are other tropical fish that are hardy craig though if you do go coldwater i would not suggest goldfsih

A betta will be fine in the small tank and if you want to have something to keep the algae down try to introduce an oto or 2. Then you will be FULL. By all means some real plants, bettas love them. The fewer chemicals the better, although I do give my fish vitamins. I know everyone thinks I am silly but the word is it helps their immune systems. And Gunnie is definitely right, the larger the tank the easier it is to keep the water within healthy limits for the fish. I know that just from dealing with the 3 and 5 gallon I have. The 3 is twice the work to keep going than the 5.

heres a few other fish i read u could put in with cold water fish weather loach, bloodfin tetras, white cluds, zebra danio

ur thoughts of this would b gr8ly appreciated can i put goldfish in my 17 gallon alright ?

silver dollar in a tank which is at room temperature in a cool water tank

with a goldfish a few white clouds or zebra danios ?? is it possible ??

im still wonderin if i can put a silver dollar in my cool water tank its temp is still over 75F with goldfish, white clouds and zebra danios (ANY OTHER FISH U CAN SUGGEST FOR COOL WATER TANKS WOULD B APPRECIATED) i got an air pump and air stone in2 this new set up 2day (very happy with the air pump its a tetraTEC and is extremely quiet and efficient )

Craig Gunnie is right. The bigger the tank the longer it stays stable. Temperature fluctuations will be less and when you get it cycled will be lesss maintenance in the long run. Congratulations and get back into it. I quit for about 3 weeks also... But had my tanks cycling just in case. 8) Nothing is life is easy. PUt something in and you will get something out. Hopefully some healthy fish to watch.

I disagreewith atm maching Craig but no disrespect meant. I used to think Golfish were messy and not good. But if you keep them with ONLY other golfish they are very clean. Right now I need to fix my 15 gallon tank or get a bigger one because have 3 in a 10 gallon. It's only my opionion but I love mine.

thanks 4 ur help jim it has helped me alot i am definitly putting goldfish in put i would like possibly 2 put sum tetras in also just 4 sum variety and difference i also aim 2 put live plants in this 2nd start with my tank

Hi Craig. I was thinking to add plants with my goldfish also but heard the goldfish uproot and eat them. I read this in a post on this site but don't know it to be a fact. One of my goldfish lost his color about 6 months ago from orange to almost an albino color. Goldfish are easy to maintain but still need filter and aereator. And another plus they like it cooler so don't need to heat the tank as much. I don't know about mixing any other fish with goldfish I haven't heard of any successfull matches as of yet.

yup i have that same air pump and i love it but you do have a filter right

and on the goldfish i think there are other coldwater (CW) fish that you can get that dont poop as much and if you do get a goldfish and want to get other fish you will have to make sure they get food since most goldfish are pigs and a goldfish is fine as long as you get the type that dont get huge but i belive loaches can be coldwater

o silver dollars will get to big for your tank and i belive they are tropical along with zebra danios but they wont get too big zebra danios 2-2.5" silver dollars 7-9"

Go for hardy tropical by the way thats the same dimensions as my tank (1). Go for swordies, cories, tetras, red tail shark, other catfish possibly other surface/middle dweller. etc.

STAY AWAY FROM CHEMICALS ALL TOGETHER. Use stability by seachem to help build your biological bacteria. Its a water conditioner. Other than that just do weekly water changes and STAY AWAY FROM OTHER CHEMICALS.
