MTS and your home...

those of us afflicted with MTS... did you ever contemplate making your house bigger just so you would have the room to add more tanks?

or has my MTS got to the "shes a freaking looney-toon" level?

Well, I thought about kicking out my renter so I could have more room in the top half of the house for tanks.... but then I decided I'd rather have the rent money, it pays my house payment!!

Hehehehe.

Welll, back when I was in high school, we did enclose the back porch so I could have a fishroom. It held 12 tanks.
I was in heaven.

We currently have 11 tanks all strewn about the house, and we are constucting a stand to hold 3 more breeders... our MTS is going wild over here....

I thought our last tank, was going to be our last tank... but no such luck.

Well, I only have two tanks right now, but I may be picking up a 29 gal some time in the future. It seems like a nice size. I'm going to wait until I have my own place to get anything large than my 55gal, as I'd like it to be as permanent a fixture as possible. My wife has said that when/if we build a house, we can have a room specially designed for holding fish tanks all around.

Click the image to open in full size.

The area filled in light blue would be where equipment would be stored, and all the tanks would have vinyl curtains behind to hide the maintenance room. The narrow white area would be a hallway to the display room, and the green box would be a very large centerpiece tank, something like 7'x7'x2.5', with the display room being something like 18x18. Maintenance in that is an issue that would have to be tackled later

Nope... but we are planning on building a fish room whenever we get land and build a house.

Of course, we're also trying to figure out how to add a pond to the back yard so that Miyamoto and He Who Eats Snails can have a better home. Does that count?

Knocked down a wall and replaced it with a 125 gallon. Why make the house bigger when there is already unused space?

yea, i'd love to design a home with the entire place setup for tanks. it would need a lot of 'hidden' space for the tank maintenance to be 'behind the scenes'.. now if i just had the winning powerball numbers..

We're moving to a basement or bottom floor apartment so we can get a 400g homemade tank and keep all the ones we have now. Plus I really hate where we are living now.
Once we have enough money for a house, there will lots of tank being built in the walls...our basement will be a fish room.

OHHHHH, I wish we had a basement... I'd be in fish tanks up to my neck. When we bought our house, the foundation was already in, and as much as we pleaded with the builder to take it out and put in a basement, he refused to do so because of his time restraints, so we ended up without one. We LOVE this house, but in hindsite that is our only regret.
