I just got a new pleco today. I noticed when I got home that his scales looked strange. It looks like he is shedding a layer of skin like a snake would. Is this normal? Any help would be much appreciated. I live in Hong Kong so some of the places you get fish are questionable. The owner didn't speak any English so I couldn't ask him.

The pleco may be shedding his slime coat.
Make sure the tank he is in gets at least every other day water changes (25%).
Give the pleco plenty of places to hide and he should settle in to his new home.
