Over the past week I noticed one of my beautiful blue dwarf gouramis had a nasty looking mark on his back, which if truth be known, I thought may have been a bite by my krib, Thor. It just looked like something had grabbed him from the top. ( See photo.)
This morning, after feeding the 55, I was sitting watching with a cup of coffee and heard a funny sound. When I looked over at the aquarium, I saw the same gourami, wedged in the "ship's wheel" ornament, which I had leaning against a rock.( see last pic) He was STUCK!

I freaked out but managed to get my long grabbers and pick up the wheel, only to have it fall, fish and all. I got it again, and it actually took a little pushing, but I finally got him free. He was kinda curled when he got out, but quickly swam away, hung in the corner. His "scuff" is now re-scuffed.
Well, he is not too smart. I guess I just assumed fish, like cats, wouldn't go where they don't fit, but I am thinking he saw some food falling, and went after it.

If I hadn/t been there, for sure I would have lost him. The scuff isn't down to the flesh, it just looks like his blue colour rubbed off. But he was pretty shook up.
He is now swimming with the rest of them and settled down, and the ship's wheel ornament is now laying flat on the substrate.
Oh ya, and Thor, my sweet sherriff, is off the hook!
Beware of space challenged fish

and seemingly innocent ornaments!!
