Okay. Here's my story...

Last night, my boyfriend and I decided to go out to the liquor store to buy some alcohol for the RED SOX GAME (made it to the World Series, of course!)... so we leave. I'm walking to my car (across the campus) when this little kitten comes out. Gray and white striped....reeeaaalllyyy skinny. She starts to rub up against our feet and purring. Obviously wanted attention from people. She had a flea collar on but no real collar. We were able to pick her up and play with her. She followed us all the way to my car!!

It's like 10:00 on a Sunday night. What do I do with a lost kitty!? We called the Police and Animal Control and a local shelter. No one would do anything until Monday morning. (Plus I didn't want to bring it to a shelter, if they're not claimed in a week, they get put to sleep).. So no one would help! I live in a dorm, I can't have a kitty! Even for a night! So we decided it was warm enough out and she was friendly enough that someone else would rescue her on Monday. (When I say she was friendly, she was the friendliest cat I've ever met on first contact. It was adorable!) So I let her out of my car and cried. I was so upset!

So now we go to the liquor store. lol On the way back we go to park my car and there she is with more people. One of my friends was with her and she said if we could get the kitty to her appartment, she would take care of it for the night. So I shoo away the other people and me, Zach, and Mei Ling get the kitty (who I started calling Charlie) and put her back in my car. She sat on my dashboard and just purred and looked at me while I was driving her to Mei Lings. She was breaking my heart!!! We get her to the appartment and she ran out of the car because she was scared by the other cars. After an hour we were able to get her again and bring her inside. I would have taken this kitty in a heartbeat if I could!

Mei Ling called me today. We are going to post some fliers and see if the owner will give us a call. If not, her boyfriends father is going to take the kitten.


I'm still sad that I had to give Charlie up after we were so attached to each other.. but I'm really happy that she has a good home waiting for her.

Oh my God, thank you for being so compassionate! Thank you! I also can't leave a stray when I see it. I just can't. I am so glad you found her and that now she'll have a home, as opposed to being killed in some shelter, or somewhere on the streets. I'm sorry you can't take her I understand how you must feel. But at least now you'll rest assured that the kitten will have a home - which is WAY better than no home at all, right? Maybe your friend's dad will let you visit the kitty? I really hope so Thank you once again for having such a good heart!

P.S. When you're done with college and move out of the campus, you could adopt a kitten from some shelter, or save another stray, you know There are plenty of them waiting for someone to save them! God, I wish there were no strays and no kitties killed in shelters ...

You guys are going to put flyers next to the liquor store too? It could belong to someone around there, who's lost it.

Sounds like such a cute kitten, but you did the right thing resisting. You coudn't give it what it needs right now (a home it's a allowed to stay in). You remind me of me. I want to cry whenever I see a stray pet.

About 2 months ago my brother picked up a beautiful white cat in the st and came home saying 'Mummy its sooo cold outside and the cat is cold and it hungry and its crying. pls can we keep it?' Of course there was nothing else to be done My mom said only for today' Huh that cat is still here! We put up fliers etc around here no one claimed him. But we are looking for a good home for him as we cant keep him.

i don't see how anyone can turn a cold shoulder to an animal in need.. but then so many do that to people in need in this selfish world. it's great to hear of someone showing some heart and i love that we have so many members here who can show compassion and caring like you did with that little kitten.

I don't get how people lose track of their pets. This is why my 4 felines are strictly indoors.

some people abandon pets on purpose. our friend Kandy saw a puppy sitting on the side of the road and rescued her. someone had just dumped the puppy there to die. it was pretty weak but she nursed her back to health and found a home for her. she did put up flyers around the area, just in case, but no calls naturally.

I know this is slightly off topic...
We once had a old, old, old dog dumped outside our gate. We took her in, put a "found" add in the paper . No one called. But... My Dad said from the start that her owners left her to die. And within a week she did die.
