Hi All,

I am starting my new aquarium. After reading many posts on this forum, I decided to get 6 barbs, instead of 2 which I originally planned. Is it necessary that all of them to be of same variety, to stop their fin nipping behavior. Will it be ok if I put 3 tiger barbs and 3 rosey barbs?

welcome to fishlore. you can go either way with the barbs, 3 is enough that they'll shoal, but 6 is better if you want them to school.

Thanks Dave & Stacy. So if I get 3 tiger barbs & 3 rosey barbs, will it form 2 shoal or 1 school?

2. They usually will school with only their own species. Rosey with roseys and tiger with tigers.
