Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

OMG last night, I woke up because I was dreaming that my orange male molly died because he got... tangled in my hair. I dreamt that I was in the garden, lying on the grass, and that the fish was messing around, flying around me (yep, flying, not swimming). And then he got too close and I thought it was sweet but I was on my guard in case he hurt himself, and then he got tangled and by the time we got to him, he was dead: asphyxiated (yeah, that's right, fish, all in a sudden you DO need water again). Weird or what?

Re: Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

I've had a horrible one before. I dreamt about my guppie, and for some reason in the dream he could breathe out of water and i was holding him and i decided his fins were too long or something, so i trimmed them with a scissors! I was so shocked when i woke up that i kept appologizing to him, even though he knew no different, but it was so weird and I kept thinking "why would I ever do such a thing!"

Well i guess it is official, we are all barking mad!! I often wander around the house in the night like a zombie after a bad dream about the fish being ill or dying. I have to go and check on all of the tanks!!

My mum has started having them too, i'll get her to tell you her latest!

Re: Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

Well folks. I have obviously joined the nutty society. I was dreaming the other night of my betta crawling out of the top of the tank and down the front to the table. I was shouting in the dream for someone to pick them up as I could not touch them (silly). There was also a tank which hung off the table at either side because the bottom was not solid and had a chinese dragon in it trying to get out. It all sounds really stupid when you put it into words (the men in white coats are coming).

It is nice to see that I am not the only mad thing dreaming silly dreams. We must be brain washed.

Does this all mean that I have passed the initiation stage of fish keeping?

Re: Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

Thanks Dave, I have always wanted little blue pils to match the little pinks ones I already have. Maybe together they will help.

Actually went to LFS this afternoon and saw male bettas and female bettas. Very tempted but resisted. Taz fell in love with a little salmon pink female one (I think it was a young one but very cute) but did not buy as we have to sort out Spots tank first, then maybe.

Re: Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

I had an odd dream a few nights back. My roommate is awesome, and likes my tank just fine, but doesn't have the passion for fish that I do. I dreamed that, for some reason, we weren't in the same room, but she had her own room with all these tanks all over the place, all the tanks that I wanted, and she still didn't care very much. I think I walked out angrily, but then walked back in and apologized and told her that I was super jealous of her room.

I also had my first "oh no, all my fish are dead!" moments when waking up last week sometime, I guess I dreamed that someone took all the water out of my tanks, and they all just flopped around, and I was panicked and ready to kill someone when I woke up.

I think it has to do with high stress, which these past two weeks have been.

Re: Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

It's funny these dreams of something bad happening to our fish. Do you know what? I think it's to do with high caring, rather than high stress. They're so fragile and so dependent on our care.

I want those tanks. That's why I was so jealous. She's my best friend, but for her to have those tanks and not share... I couldn't let that go, even in a dream.

Re: Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

I had a dream that my pleco was in my filter eating all the food on the filter pad and then at that moment i woke up because my filter had stoped spinning so the motor was so loud i unpluged it and looked inside and there was my pleco missing an eye and had his head almost shaved of skin! so he passed. Scary how the timing works!

How did I not see this post!?

I usually click the "show unread posts since last visit.".....and I seemed to have missed this one!!!!

lol I actually had boyfriend sleep over last night...(I saw Halloween and cried the whole movie!) we slept in front of the tank in the living room. He woke up and said "I think you should get suckerfish babies. That'd be really cool."

So.. lol fish dreams are addictive!

Re: Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

OMG OMG OMG. I dreamt I had an audition for...

the Jackson 5!

Considering the fact that I am not black, nor 5 years old, nor do I have a remotely good singing voice (imo! ), that is just totally ridiciculous. The worst thing is that I felt self-conscious, but nevertheless dutifully belted out 'Still loving you' (my fave Jackson 5 song) with all my heart. Only to open my eyes again and see the jury very bitterly and unenthusiastically remind me that I couldn't sing. Awful! But... not fish-related for once.

Re: Amanda, you're not the only one with fish nightmares!

Somehow I missed this one too!

Few weeks ago I had a dream about my 2 bettas that are in a divided 10 gallon tank. Somehow the divider slipped or something and they were in the same side, but weren't fighting. I was franticly trying to keep them separate them with the divider yelling at someone to get me a net to catch one of them. It was weird, they just kept trying to swim like they were buddies. The first morning I woke up and thought nothing of it... then I had the SAME dream the next two nights! The third morning I woke up freaking out and moved one of them into the other 10 gallon tank that I have. So now there's no chance of it happening, but it was scary! Though maybe if I had dreamed about it that much, it was bound to happen!

we have finrot dreams sometimes.. i think we think about our fish enough that those fears in our head often manifest in dreams.

When we had just African cichlids and piranha here...I always would dream someone would put them all in once HUGE tank and they'd get along fine. I'd wake up all confused.
