I have just spotted a strange thing in my tank it is about 1/2 inch long very light almost transparent with a fan like tail 4 front legs and seems to like the algae ,how it got there I don't have a clue, anyone know how these things get in the tank I also have a snail , at the moment I have no fish as I am still cycling,I don't know if I should remove these or not , puzzled Pete

it sounds like a baby african dwarf frog...that would be a nice suprise to have

What you should do is buy one of those breeder nets, and isolate the things in there until they grow(if they grow) and find out what they are.

Hi I have been to my LFS and they said to fish it out and they will have a look the good thing its eating the algae ,will let you know what it is if I find out Peter

Are you sure it's only got 4 legs? Sounds a lot like a shrimp to me

Hi no I was wrong when I got it out of the tankto take it to my LFS it has 6 legs and it seems it was a Damsel Fly Nymph I have since checked on the web and it seems right ,when I got it out and looked closer it did look like a dragonfly without wings, so damsel fly in my tank could this be a first ? I wonder Peter

That is neat, get a 5 gallon tank and raise it outside with feeder guppies for it to feed on. This way you could say raised a dragonfly(even though it is a damselfly). That would be really cool.

come on Tom couldn't do that it would be cheating any way the guy at the store put it in some water at the back of the store so it has a new way of life now .
