To all of you fantasy fans out there, just want to get the word out about this movie. I've only seen a few trailers for it, so it doesn't seem like they're pushing it too hard.
The movie is based on a really good Neil Gaiman book that I just happened to find, abandoned, in my college parking lot (the irony of this is not lost on me)
I have not yet seen the movie, it comes out on August 10th, so I don't know how good the movie will be, but it looks pretty good.
The story is about a faerie-born child who discovers a fallen star and plans to use her (this is a fairy tail, and this star takes the form of a young woman) as a bartering chip to marry a girl from his village. There are others who are trying to find the star for their own reasons, from temporal power to eternal life.

It looks like a great movie and will see it when it comes out. In the trailers is that Robert DeNiro by any chance?

Yes indeed it is.
And right after I say that I haven't seen much on it, I hear two radio ads and see a commercial for it.
It really is a beautiful story. As long as Hollywood doesn't butcher it too badly (especially the ending), it should be really good. Add to the story the amazing cast they've got lined up for it...

I have never read the book, but I know from experience, that books are much better than the movies they are made into. So I hope that the movie will be just what your looking for!

i think i saw 1 commercial for it.. but since we've not watched much tv lately, that's not saying a lot.

I have read 90% of what Neil has written,, what I have not read are mostly magazine articles he has written.

I have all but the last 2 novels signed.

Neil also is a sketch artist and I have both a sketch in my sketch book and on the intro page of "American Gods".

Neil is inthe top 5 of my favorite authors.
