CLEANING THESE EMPTY TANKS - HELP

I know it is here somewhere, but I am too lazy/busy to look. What do I clean all these empty tanks with?? I threw out the substrate, so far just scrubbed with water and let air dry

How soon are they good to use again..wait.........maybe don't answer that..............

Re: CLEANING THESE EMPTY TANKS - HELP

I usually soak empty tanks with a bleach solution, rinse well then soak in heavily dechlorinated water.
If they've got mineral build ups on them a good vinegar soak and scrub is good also.

Re: CLEANING THESE EMPTY TANKS - HELP

Mine have no build up, since two were smaller and uncycled and water was changed every second day. The Eclipse 6 is the one I was trying to cycle, but it isn't icky either.

Would just the vinegar solution work We are on a well, so no chlorine.

And then rinse and wipe??

Thx

Re: CLEANING THESE EMPTY TANKS - HELP

vinegar is a very weak acid and cleans that white build up you get when water is repeatedly splashed on glass (like glass tops)
If you know the tanks and know there wasn't any disease in them then just rinse and dry.
I envy you the well

Re: CLEANING THESE EMPTY TANKS - HELP

what tanks are these? if they're clean and have no buildup or anything and weren't home to sick fish, i'd put in new substrata, etc and start cycling them. hot water was all i used to clean up that 30g that was so dirty.
