If you can track down and afford it. You could get 3-4 galaxy rasboras.

Although some would argue it's too small, you could get a betta. 2 gallons is much more than many bettas get.

You would have to a lot of regular water changes.

Re: Whats a 2gal good for?
A betta would be good - you could also put 5-7 neon tetras in. Or maybe one or two of the African dwarf frogs. The betta might be fun if you also put some of the lucky bamboo in a back corner. The betta would have fun swimming through the roots.

Re: Whats a 2gal good for?
A two gal. could be used as a secondary quarantine/ nursery tank in a pinch depending on what you put in it.. but as a permanent home, it might not be the optimum size for any species even single Bettas, Neons , or Guppies

Is lucky bamboo a plant? Actually i was thinking along the betta lines but wasnt sure if it will be cruel-ish.

I'd love to have a 2g fall into my hands for this purpose. That'd be so great!

Re: Whats a 2gal good for?
Hi Sabi
not sure if you have already used the two gal tank, but wanted to let you know that I had the female betta in a 2.5 and she had plenty of room there. I didnt use alot of decorations tho, just a silk plant for her to lay on. The female bettas are smaller than the males, and if you decided on a betta, I believe that a female would be the way to go for your tank! good luck, kate

Re: Whats a 2gal good for?
Cherry shrimp and plants would be good in that size tank. Whatever you put in it you will have to do at least 2x week 50% water changes or more.

Re: Whats a 2gal good for?
thanks guys! i've decided on a betta. i am doind water changes more or less everyday as i'm keeping my fish from the 8gal there because it has cracked. fixed it today though hope it stays so! i'll keep a betta in there along with 1 or 2 live plants. I'll do 20% water changes 3/4 times a week a week or as Carol says 50% twice a week. What say?
