I have a 5 gallon tank and 3 tiger barbs and when i turn on the light they go and hide,but when i turn it off they come out and play around,anyone no why?

if you have an incandescent light it may be causing a lot of extra heat...and they are hiding in the coolest parts of the tank
you may want to try a florescent lightbulb

do you have a pic of your tank? is there enough cover in it?

What do u mean cover?

plants and such.. basically no real open areas that they'd feel exposed and unsafe in when the lights turn on.

They may also be feeling a little crowded and overwhelmed...Tiger barbs are schooling fish and feel more comfortable in larger groups and need room to swim. Also, they get to be about 3" long and will eventually outgrow your tank.

i got a floresant light but they are still hiding

it may be 2 hot/ bright or you scared them really good

shrimpy...does it just please you to no end that you figured out how to say the exact same thing that some one else said a couple days ago?
you do this in every thread i have seen today...maybe try reading all the posts b4 answering the first question
