Ok so its a boring,icky Sunday afternoon...we werent really doing anything so I figured I'd get a jump on my water changes....start off with the big tank...figured well it really needs to get REALLY cleaned...well off I go determined to get every drop of fish-poo....well I'm movin this ,and movin that, just vacumming my little heart out, well outa no-where I get bit, by 2 of myfish,so I'm thinking ...well everyone did say THEY were Really aggressive little fish. So ok I AM gonna get this tank clean,well on I go movin stuff and the FISH-POO is moving!!!!!! Well guess what its not what I thought it was after all....My very beautiful, NEW Blood Red Jewels have a bazzillion BABIES!!!!!! What a great surprise for a yucky day!!!!!!! I felt soooooooooooooo bad!!! Those poor fish were just protecting their family!!!!!
Well I didnt touch another thing, hopefully there will be some survivors...and out of all of it I'm really thrilled cause now I know I have at least 1 pair!!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!

LOL that is too funny lorabell. I found RBJ babies today myself and I have no clue how they hid them from me for so long since they have a tank by themselves. I am glad you found them before you vacuumed all of them up. And I am glad I found mine before I started cleaning on Monday morning. Congrats on your new babies.

Hello Lorabell! Congrats on the new fry. lol I'm glad you didn't vacuum them up. I know that has to be a great surprise for you. Sounds to me like you're going to have to have a much larger tank.

What a wonderful surprise. As I was reading, there I was thinking what kind of community fish would attack you while trying to clean the tank LoL? How are you going to clean the tank now without upsetting the babies?

I wonder if I were to get a new tank...if a BUCKET were to go with it??....guys...know whats worse??Hubby says ......whatever u want.....lol...lol....he wouldnt care if I got rid of all the furniture and put an animal or tank in its place....I am outnumbered.....lol....ok so now someone bring me a truck......lol....lol

You made me realize something, Lorabell. I had MAJOR drama in my 55 where I had the first two jewels. One of the jewels did some pretty good damage to the other tank inhabitants. After this thread and a PM with SWilkins, I'm starting to think it was spawning behavior. I'm going to put them in their own tank.

Oh, please, don't apologize. Naughty fish are VERY MUCH LOVED AND ADORED in our house. That's why we have so many cichlid tanks. They're in the perfect home.

To be honest, I like the feistiness. Plus, this'll give me an excuse to try to figure out how to set up another tank in my bedroom because I really enjoy watching them, especially when they're naughty.

lol...I"M so happy!!!!!!..Its all new for me!!!!!! but its wierd....those 2 were very dark even when just getting here...I just thought they were happy to be out of the box and bag!!!!!....lol.....guess not even those shipping bags can deter mother nature...close quarters.....lol
And ohhhhhhh geee...what a shame....we had to set up yet another tank......lol.....
