Last Friday night I moved a
HOB filter from one tank in my home-office to the one in the living room. Somehow I noticed this filter made a soothing water splashing sound which I liked. Late at night I was moving things around in my
betta Sorority tank (in my home-office) placing a green plastic grid to prevent casualties from jumping while allowing air exchange (it had a solid glass there before).
I went to bed a little late. Then about 4AM the sound of splashing water is clearly heard in my room (I sleep with my door open) and I figured it was the HOB in the living room, I remember thinking, how nice, in the quietness of night I can hear that soothing sound from my bed, I ended up dreaming of keeping an inside the house pond with a fountain in it. It was a beautiful pond (in my dreams) with gorgeous Koi fish in them and I do remember my Black Moores (from the 1980s) swimming there too!
8AM Saturday morning: My Betta Sorority tank is empty 2/3. You can figure where the 2/3 of the water was, at that point I have no idea. I am sort of slow waking person, I can be up but not fully alert for a while (by my second cup of coffee I'm reasonably awake). So I stand there asking myself if I was doing a
water change the night before and forgot to finish it when approaching the tank I feel this cold splash in my bare feet. Sudden awakening.
It turned out that the cheap ToM Mini-Canister I used to keep there (I moved it to another tank today) return hose was detached...
It took me some LOL work -yes I was laughing at the situation- (and some valuable help from my ever supporting wife) to have the home-office in order by 11:15AM. I ended up doing waterchanges in all my office tanks (all nine of them) and remembering how nice that pond with fountain sounded and looked with my trio of Black Moors from the 1980s.
