Allie there was this flue here during our winder too... just wouldn't go away - as you think you are better it just hits you again. Good luck with that!

I also heard the older you get the harder the flu hits you. I didn't get sick like this even 2 years ago.

Oh dear! Well I wonder if those flu Vaccinations will then be a good idea to try and prevent flu?

SO sorry to hear that you are sick. I'm really glad your fish can help distract you from being miserable. Hopefully some meds can help you struggle through it a bit easier, and you'll be over it in no time! (here's to hoping!)

I have to take the flu shots because of where I work and here's the deal. Each year the flu shots are made to prevent the flu that is predicted to be the worse that year. The one you are most likely to get but... there are more than one type of flu and if it's not the types you've been vaccinated for then you can still get "the flu". Hubby and I have both had the flu vaccine and we have had the flu for two weeks AAARRRGGGHH

I have had influenza a couple of times. It nearly killed me the second time. Most people mistake a "flu-like virus" for actual influenza. Either way being sick is a real pain. Hope you feel better and keep your fluids up (drown the little boogers).

Also the "flu-shot" is a shot in the dark. Its about 10-20% accurate and can make some people feel ill. Because of my history with influenza I have been ordered to get the shot but I disobey and avoid it. I have been healthier than ever by avoiding medicines and letting my body take care of what I catch. I say this as a person who suffers from Lupus, an immune system disorder.

Also, Allie sounds like you might have some variation of the Epstein Barr Virus, also known in laymen terms as Mono. Its not entirely impossible you have re-infected yourself with a mutated strain. Some of them can last months and the lethargy comes and goes. The sucky part is there is no way the Dr. can tell, and really no treatments at all for viral infections, so either way you are going to have to wait it out, if in fact it is viral and not bacterial.

I get flu shots because I have a compromised immune system due to asthma and allergies. I get nasty sinus infections in the spring. One year I had one so bad that I went to school 4.5 days over 2 weeks. My sinus infection became an asthma attack.
