| A boat has a son, a grandson, and a father in it, but there are only 2 people?
A child and his father are injured and rushed to the hospital. The doctor looks at the child and says "I can't operate on this child, he is my son". How can that be? |

| Good job on the variant of the Sphinx' curse, Gremlin (or are you secretly a D&D nerd?)
I just don't see the wind knocking a fishbowl over. I like the baseball version better (there was a game of these kinds of puzzles when I was in high school, and that was one of the cards.) Quote:

How can that be? | Well, there's that one song "I am my own grandpa..." but I don't think that's what you're talking about, so I'm going to have to go with something along the lines of: Father and son go fishing, catch a fish which, biologically, has to be the grandson of some other fish.
Mom's the DOC.
The fish is all in mail never clinking. |

(singing) I'm my own grandpa....Yes, funny song - and if you figure out all the lyrics, it actually works!
Mom's the doc and fish in mail are correct - Yay!
Never played Dungeons and Dragons - Don't know anything about it. What is the Sphinx's curse?
Oh, and another (hobbit) puzzle for out there (I love puzzles!)
No legs lay on one leg, two legs sat near on three legs, four legs got some. |

How can that be? | ok...i'll give it a shot...if father and son are fishing...the father is a son and the son is a grandson of the father's father...so the son is not only just a son, but a grandson too...makes sense to me...even at 4 am! |

No legs lay on one leg, two legs sat near on three legs, four legs got some. | Sorry, I meant "Sphinx' riddle". It's from ancient mythology. The Sphinx had a riddle, and would eat any man who could not answer it. It is "What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs during the day, and three legs in the evening."
In D&D, there was a section on remaking riddles (because it's really hard to come up with new ones), and they used the one I gave as an example of how to make it nearly unrecognizable.
Fish on a platter, human sitting on a stool, the human gave the cat some. |

| Another puzzle -
You are in a room with two doors - one door leads to freedom, the other door leads to death. There are also two computers in the room with you. One computer always lies, the other computer always tells the truth. You may ask one computer one question. What question do you ask to find out what door leads to freedom - oh and you don't know which computer lies or which tells the truth.... |

| Here's another one - You are caught by an indian chief trespassing on tribal land. The chief states that since you seem to be an honorable person, he will allow you to chose the manner of your own death. You are allowed to make one statement. If the statement is true, you will be thrown over a cliff. If the statement is false, you will be fed to the lions. What statement can you make that will save your life? |

| I'm pretty good at the "create a contradiction" riddles. Some of the others I know from previous exposure to them.
However, a lifetime of reading Lewis Carrol and creating/answering riddles for role-playing games has given me a good idea of how to solve puzzles. |
