stupid customers

Some people can be so stupid. Alright, I went to petco for some fish. there was this guy in there with his wife/girlfriend buying fish. while I was picking out my fish I over heard him ask the clirk for a common pleco, so I asked him what size tank he has. He said 24g so I told him plecos grow to be over a foot in size. He says "that alright" and I left it at that. I kept an on him while I looked at the fish.

He asked the clirk about rainbow sharks, and kind-of showing off I told him what I know. I asked him what kind of fish he had. He said a goldfish and an eel. In all he bought a pleco, rainbow shark, a platy, and 4-5 neon tetras. He still has the gold fish and eel too. The clirk at the checkout counter thought he was nuts too.

That's why I'm glad I have never come across a Petco here. But I have seen many stores called Petcetera up here, and they are probably a close equivilant to Petco.

In defence of the 'stupid' costumer, it's probably more accurate to call them an uninformed customer.

If you don't know about the nitrogen cycle and only look at the size of a fish, it's easy to understand why people think they can fit more fish in their tank than is possible bio-load wise.

Especially when you buy a tank kit and the instructions say 'all you need to add is the water and the fish' and the pictures show an insane amount of fish in the tank.

That is actually a very valid point. Never thought of that, I know I just get frustrated when people at the stores don't know 100% what they are talking about and either don't listen to the advise of the clerk or they think they are better then any of the stores clerks because they don't work there.

Hehe, yeah. I saw a pic of a 10 gal tank with like 15 goldfish in there.

I think that the people working at stores should know what they're talking about. Quite a while ago one told me that a pleco would be alright in my brackish tank... If people come to the store wanting to buy fish, but don't know much about them, the people at the store should be able to give them valid information. That way the customer can make an informed decision.
