Thanks guys!
I will try and get more in the coming days. I need to ask the boss, or wife, how to zoom when doing video. I know we have video of the kids' various school things and she zoomed in and out but it didn't seem to work for me.

is it a videocamera or a point and shoot camera?
Sometimes the point and shoot cameras dont zoom if you already zoomed in before beggining the recording. What i do is i zoom out as much as i can and then it allows me to zoom

It is a Canon PowerShot G6.
One day when I figure out how to use all the features I will start taking some better pics.

i am using a Nikon Powershot A590 IS and it has the zoom feature messed up so when you want to zoom in a video make sure you are as zoomed out as possible.
