Thanks Tony, I had hoped that by this stage, the plants would have filled out, but as advised, the dollars slowly but surely are turning them into sticks. They have left their canopies alone for now, which is a reminder of what I was hoping to have down lower. Never mind - still thinking about what to do there.
Life you have a beautiful tank and your fish are just awesome. Great job on the video as well. The Silver Dollars aren't a bit shy are they? Beautiful.
Ken
nice job beach!!!!!! that tank is just amazing...those angels are the bestest!! the silvers in the uk are totally shaped different than mine....amazing how much different...but all around, great job!
Wow! Great vid. I don't know if I like the silver dollars or the loaches more. Your fish are absolutely gorgeous!
The loaches are more fun to watch. I have to pick my moment to really show them off.

Thanks - they are shy, and so are the loaches. I hope they learn from the Angels.

Thanks Carol. I'll get some closeup shots once I get my algae under control!
Wow, thats really strange. I know I posted here. It was a nice post too. lol
I love the tank. Watching the silver dollars must be very relaxing. The clown coming out of the rock is so funny! How big are they?

Thanks Lucy. The largest is about 6 inches long. It's one of the first 3 fish I acquired that started the whole fish keeping process. When active, they use the holes a lot - I'm going to try and focus the next video on that. It is funny to watch.
Shawnie, Life, I noticed too that the Silver Dollars are different than mine in shape and size. Bring one with you life when you come out for the tour! lol
Ken
Great looking tank! I love how the bubbles come out from the back
Thanks peacemaker. I placed plastic lids over the airstones which allows some of the air to build up before releasing into the water. I'm always playing around with them to get the variation I want.

Hah! I'd have no chance getting them out of the tank alive. I've seen mine move at full pace - they are fast!! Good luck getting yours into that new tank.
I have a feeling they are going to win the battle of wills!
Morning Life. I've been watching my Silver dollars the past few days. Seems to be some mating rituals going on. Changing colors and zooming around the tank chasing each other at full speed. Amazing! Hopefully by using the bucket instead of a net will help when it's time for the move. Yours truly are beautiful and HUGE.
Have a good day today!

Not having had them before, I thought this was normal full grown size. Yours look more slender. How old are they? I can't believe mine are only 2 years old.
They were growing up with the goldfish in the 60 litre tank, and to this day, they love goldy royal granulated growth food and pond sticks (for all goldfish!).
Maybe that has something to do with their size!
Life my Silver Dollars are well over 5 years old. Compared to mine yours looks plate size! lol I only know of 3 kinds of Silver Dollars (that I can find locally) I call mine the regular ones, Red Hooks (which I hope to find some) and the Striped Silver Dollars (I want some of these too). Yours don't look like any of these mentioned. Yours have to be the largest ones I've seen. hmmmm growth food

I didn't realize those were silverdollars until you said so - they are massive! And very very beautiful. I love the way they shimmer when they swim into the light.

Reason: I can't type.
I love your tank setup Although I had silver dollar fishes myself a long time ago. It's amazing how two baby silver dollars could eat up so much of my plants! I had them inside my 29 gallon to get help me control my water wisterias, but then they ate a lot of my plants. My Java Ferns, Anacharis, giant holes in my Amazon Swords, and a whole bunch of my other plants
So how do you keep your plants alive?? All of my plants that the silver dollars munched on took a long time to grow back after I gave my silver dollars to my friends. I would've put the Silver Dollars into my pond or the Amazon River, but they were captive bred so I don't think they would do well out in the wild.
Also what type of lights do yo use for your tank?

I keep reading that their stomachs are the size of their eyes. Well they both ate about 4 or 5 medium algae discs after they lunched on goldy royal granules!

I can't seem to get the clarity that others can produce with their videos. Maybe something to do with lighting.

I'm trying to get a better video of the loaches. They only 'perform' for me when I'm on the way to work, or something else.

I'm losing leaves along the stems of my wisteria, and they won't let my anubis recover, and have attacked my baby amazons. Otherwise the plants are sort of surviving.

All fluorescent - in total I think just over 90W, which is really not enough.I'm losing leaves along the stems of my wisteria, and they won't let my anubis recover, and have attacked my baby amazons. Otherwise the plants are sort of surviving. LIfe I edited your posts a bit for duplicates. Thanks!
