Haha, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending) we lost Oedipus' father to an aggressive fungal infection a couple months back.

Tarzen and Elton do look a fair bit alike, don't they? I think Elton has more iridescence, though- it doesn't show up that well in the video, but that's because the lighting sucks and Elton hates the camera. I made the mistake of using the flash the first time I took pictures of him, and now whenever he sees the camera he starts wigging out. I don't take pictures of him often for the same reason you don't force a betta to flare often- it's very distressing.

Sorry to hear about your loss of the father. Beautiful fish though. I enjoyed the quick glimpse of the geode collection. My grandmother got me into rocks, and I can't seem to get out! (she's also the one in the family who had aquariums) Have you ever thought about using the geodes in aquascaping? I've been looking around, and all the discussions I've read about it say that it should be safe. If you've got an opinion on this, I'd love to hear it!

I don't know if I would trust the geode in an aquarium- the crystals themselves are fine, but the surrounding matrix can be very fragile and very prone to disintegrating, depending on the type and place of origin for the geode. I guess the HCl bubble test would be a good place to start, but there are so many toxic metal factors in geodes that the only real way to tell would be to use test fish and see if they live (and I refuse to sacrifice fish in this manner)

I'll try for a video of the 20 gallon; if I can lock Maddie and her camera-attacking paws in another room, I may be able to get a decent video.

*my 20 gallon (~2 months back- you can see some wee little sword fry in the floating grasses. Since then both of my platies have fallen ill to an aggressive fungal infection we're trying to combat, though I'm fairly sure we'll lose my pineapple mickey mouse girl.)
