| Well I would have loved to have been able to see your tank. Tho all I got was a black screen, with a transfering data notice.. and then finally the red line as the black screen movie was showing...
Same with the second vid.... |

| Thanks for all the comments I am glad you liked it. It was fun to make.
namehater: Actually, I made both with iMovie. I didn't put any credits in the first movie I made. I think now that I am more familiar with I am getting better results from it.
hssea: iMovie is part of iLife (iPhoto, iDVD, iWeb, iMovie, Garageband). Its the software that comes on every Mac .
capekate: Are you still having trouble viewing them? Have you tried viewing them directly on youtube's page? Here is a link to Youtube. It will take you to a search for my vids. The top two are the vids in the OP. I tried to put links directly to the vids in this post and the vids kept being embedded instead .
Nate McFin: I can only take a little credit for the music selection. For the second (earlier short vid) I did pick the music. For the first vid (longer vid) I posted it was more a matter of what songs I had that were the right length. I just sorted my iTunes library in iMovie then picked from the 12 or so songs that were the same length as the movie. Last edited by wot_fan; April 29th, 2009 at 04:10 PM.

I started out with the intention of just editing a couple clips together to show an out of town friend how the tank had changed. I had so much fun playing around in iMovie that I had to force myself to stop adding or I would never would be finished . As it is I may have over done it with the scuba breathing sound effect throughout the video .
Thanks again for the comments . |

| Man, as if I wasn't jealous enough already!
How do you get such amazing plants That is exactly what I am hoping my tank will look like. Also, what are those tall plants? There's a stem one, and one that looks like either a huge sword or anubias. |

| I am new to planted tanks so I have to assume the LFS knows what it sold me . Below is a list of the plants I have in the tank. I think they are all pretty hardy. As far as plant care goes, my gravel is Flourite, there are Seachem Fert. tabs in the tank and I dose daily with Flourish Excel.
Micro Sword (Lilaeopsis Novae) - small grass-like forground
Vallisneria Spiralis Italian - tall green background plants
Rotala Macrandra - dense pinkish tall plant - these are great for protecting fry.
Anubias Asst. - big leaved single stalk plant
Java Moss
I think I got them all right. I think the second one was the one you were asking about. That plant spreads by sending out runners. Once they get established, the seem to spread pretty quickly. Since I have been dosing with Flourish Excel they have been growing much faster. It won't be long and the back of my tank will be a wall of them . |

| for the comments
RDTigger: My camera is Canon's first DSLR with video capability ( Canon 5D Mark II). I am really happy with the quality of the video. It shoots in full 1080p HD (1920x1180 pixels). It does have some short comings though. The biggest one is that it requires manual focusing during a shot. I am not very good at that yet. That's why all the clips in the video were taken with the camera stationary on a tripod .
Thanks again . |

| The two videos are awesome. You did a great job. From the effects to the music and capturing the fish doing what they do. You get two thumps up from me and Siskel & Ebert & the Movies. |

| Your fishing are very interesting. Nice footage as well!
What bugged me is that when it went to the kribensis it didn't have a snap shot photo of them like the other transitions. |

They had just been added to the tank and the male wasn't looking his best. In the vid you can see he was basically gray.
Since then he has colored up nicely and I have been able to get some decent pics of him. If/when I make another video of this tank I'll include one of the new pics.
Thanks for the comments . |

| Incredible tank, I want one Hello, I just saw your tank video. Absolutely beautiful fish and tank. Could you tell me the kind of fish you have in the tank and how many of each? I just posted in another thread asking for help in stocking my new 37 gallon tank and then I saw your video!! Such variety and color. |

| As always, thanks for the nice comments .
Sunshine State: At the time I shot this video, I had the following fish in the tank:
1 Male German Blue Ram ( GBR)
2 Siamese Algae Eaters (SAE)
12 Neon Tetras
2 Powder Blue Gouramis
2 Oto Catfish (not in video)
1 Clown Loach
4 Fancy Guppies (1M/3F)
2 Kribensis (1M/1F)
Since then I have gotten rid of the GBR and a Powder Blue Gourami. I have also added 4 juvenile (2") bristlenose plecos.
The tank is really too small for a clown loach. I plan on getting rid of him before he gets too big for the tank. For now he is fine and doesn't seem to mind the lack of company. again . |
